Rufus K. Bluth is the Robert J. Lewis Professor of Marine Biology and Evolutionary Science at the University of Southeastern Florida, where he has taught courses in Environmental Ethics at Sea, Geodynamics, Coastal Oceanography, and Numerical Modeling of Atmosphere and Ocean. In 2006, he earned the university's distinguished, "Medallion Award" for his groundbreaking research in oncorhynchus gorbuscha off the coast of British Columbia.
With degrees in biology from Hypoxia University and a Ph.D. in oceanographic chemistry from the University of West Washington, Professor Bluth has spent his career submerged in the study of aquatic species and the impact of the environment on their survival. His landmark study, “Evolutionary Icthyology: Past is Prologue,” helped lay the groundwork for the University of West Washington’s Research Center in Evolutionary Marine Biology.
During the fall 2008 semester, Professor Bluth will be on leave to continue his study of oncorhynchus gorbuscha off the coast of Qualicom Beach.
